Mah out, Nga in as new Teluk Intan MP

TELUK INTAN: Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong failed to defend his Teluk Intan parliamentary seat after he was defeated by Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming.
Returning officer Azizan Abd Muin announced that Nga defeated Mah with a majority of 11,179 votes, en route to Nga being the new Teluk Intan MP.
"For the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat, Nga who garnered 29,170 votes defeated Mah of Barisan Nasional (17,991) and Dr Ahmad Ramadzan Ahmad Daud of PAS (6,494) with a majority of 11,179 votes.
"A total of 742 votes were rejected and voter turnout was 82.1%," Azizan announced at the Teluk Intan Town Hall around midnight.
For the Pasir Bedamar state seat, Azizan announced that incumbent Terence Naidu Raja Naidu who obtained 19,480 votes defeated both BN's candidate Kong Sun Chin and PAS' candidate S. Kumaresan with a majority of 14,520 votes.
As for the Changkat Jong state seat, incumbent Datuk Azhar Jamaluddin managed to retain his seat with a slim majority of 67 votes over Faizul Ismail (PH) and Azhar Rafiei (PAS).
Prior to Azizan's official announcement, Nga told reporters that he will be filing an election petition to seek for a vote recount for the Changkat Jong state seat result in due time.
Nga also expressed his thanks to his opponents, especially Mah for the healthy competition.
Meanwhile, commenting on Mah's loss, Azhar said he was saddened that the Teluk Intan constituents have decided to let go of a good and committed person like Mah.
However, he said he will see what Nga can bring to the table in the next five years.
