KANGAR: Umno members are told not to follow the actions of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is out to topple Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno in the 14th general election (GE14) when he cannot achieve his plans or aims.
Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man (pix), who is also State Umno Liaison Committee chairman, said Umno members should instead make peace with their own fate and accept the decision of the people.
"Allah has decided on everyone's fate and destiny. Accept our fate when our want is rejected, and not feel animosity that we are prepared to go all out to topple the party.
"We acknowledge Tun Dr Mahathir's contributions to the nation and party but he refuses to make peace with his own fate," he said when opening the Kangar division Wanita Umno delegates' meeting, here, today.
Azlan said those wishing to be candidates or G7 representatives must work hard but must also close ranks when not chosen, instead of going against the party as what was being done by Dr Mahathir.

"I myself do not know whether I will be selected as candidate. If not, I will accept my fate but will never be like Dr Mahathir who is today the party's (Umno) enemy and working very hard for Pakatan Harapan to be the next ruling government," he said.
Azlan, who is also Kangar Umno division chief, reminded that in the close run-up to GE14, Umno and other BN component parties could not be divided but rremain loyal to the party for it to win in GE14.
On Wanita Umno, the mentri besar said their role would be huge and significant in ensuring victory for BN in the elections.
"In facing GE14, I am more confident with the strategy of micro targeting, that is, meeting voters in small groups as it is more effective than in bigger groups," he said.
Azlan said he would forward the suggestion by Perlis Wanita Umno and Kangar Wanita chief, Rela Ahmad for women be given more opportunities to participate in the 1MDB Haj programme. — Bernama
