The injured are Zuraidah Md Ali, 35; Nur Zurin Faziera Mohd Fadzil, nine; student identified only as Aina, also nine; and Ustaz Ridzuan, 40.
Perak CID chief, SAC Yahya Abd Rahman said the alleged assailant, armed with a machete and who was also a family friend, had trespassed into the family home before brandishing the weapon and hacking the siblings to death and injuring the mother.
The deceased were identified as Nur Ziah Fasihah Mohd Fadzil, two; Muhammad Firash Zaffril Mohd Fadzil, three; and Muhammad Faqhqih Zahirul Haq Mohd Fadzil, five.
"At that time, the three victims were at home with their mother. The woman was also severely injured after she was hacked on the left thumb, face and thighs," he told a press conferencence here.

He said subsequently, the 37-year-old suspect headed to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Haji Muhammad, located near the victims' home, and allegedly attacked the three other victims.
"Nur Zurin Faziera and Aina were injured on the right hand and head, respectively, while Ustaz Ridzuan sustained injuries on the right cheek," he said.
Yahya said police managed to arrest the suspect about two hours later not far from the school, following a tip-off from the public. They also seized the murder weapon.
"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had no criminal record and was a colleague of the victims' father who works as an oil palm harvester," he said.
Yahya said the bodies were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh.
