News in Tamil makes a comeback on Bernama News Channel

KUALA LUMPUR: News in Tamil will make a comeback to air on the Bernama News Channel (BNC) starting today.
Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Zulkefli Salleh (pix) said it would broadcast daily at 7pm, with a repeat at 12.30am.
Zulkefli, who is also BNC's managing director, said all technical and staff related preparations had been made over the past two weeks to resume the news segment which was halted in 2015.
The Tamil News unit will be headed by K. Ghandi, he said in a statement here.
He added that preparations for resuming its News in Mandarin service was also underway, and an announcement over the broadcast date would be made later.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo during his inaugural visit to Bernama's headquarters on May 28, had asked the agency to reinstate its Tamil and Mandarin news services on BNC.
