Nik Norzrul Thani is Pengurusan Aset Air new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry has appointed Datuk Seri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani as the chairman of Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB), a wholly owned company of Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc).
PAAB is part of the federal government’s efforts to restructure the water service industry in the country to achieve better efficiency and quality.
A lawyer by profession, Nik Norzrul Thani is the chairman and senior partner at the country’s largest law firm Zaid Ibrahim & Co.
He is also the chairman of the Capital Market Compensation Fund Corp, a corporation set up by the Securities Commission and is a director of several public companies including Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB).
Besides that, Nik Norzrul Thani is active in the corporate world and serves as the chairman of T7 Global Bhd and Chin Hin Group Bhd.
Prior to that, he had served as chairman and director of Al Rajhi Banking & Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd, chairman and director of Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd and Perodua Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd.
He had also previously served on the boards of Manulife Holdings Bhd and Manulife Insurance Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd (including chairman of UMW Manufacturing & Engineering), Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd and Ranhill Holdings Bhd.
Nik Norzrul Thani was appointed by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry in January 2017 as the chairman of Malaysia-Singapore Business Council.
He holds a PhD in Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and is a Barrister at Law, Lincoln’s Inn.
He is a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and has been admitted as a practising member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals.
