PM makes personal donation to Bernama photographer recovering from stroke
SEREMBAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak made a personal donation to Bernama Negri Sembilan bureau photographer Mohd Hamzah Md Som, who is recovering from a mild stroke.
The Prime Minister's press secretary, Datuk Akmar Hisham Mokhlis, handed over the donation on behalf of Najib to Mohd Hamzah today at his house in Taman Kobena, Senawang, here.
"It is hoped that the donation, channelled through Yayasan Sahabat Nasional (YSN), will ease the financial burden of Mohd Hamzah while undergoing rehabilitative treatment," he said to reporters.
Also present was YSN chief executive officer Farah Haizum Manap and Rasah Umno Division vice-chief Datuk Abdul Karim Mustafa.
Mohd Hamzah, 52, who suffered the mild stroke last December, expressed his thanks to the Prime Minister for the donation.
Asked about his condition, Mohd Hamzah said he was recovering following various treatments including acupuncture and massage.
"Besides undergoing physiotherapy at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital and Senawang Health Clinic, I am also treating myself with acupuncture and massage.
"I am now able to walk slowly with the aid of a walking stick," said Mohd Hamzah who joined Bernama in 2006 after leaving the NST the previous year. — Bernama
