Single mother and son nabbed over death of daughter

SEGAMAT: Police nabbed a single mother and her son following the death of her two-year-old daughter found dead with bruises on her body.
Segamat district police chief Supt Raub Selamat said the mother in her 40's and her son, 22, was subsequently nabbed after the duo lodged a police report about the victim's death about 6am yesterday.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the mother found her daughter in an unconscious state in their rented room at a shop lot along Jalan Ros here about 1am yesterday.
"The mother claimed that she had informed her son to monitor her daughter before going out," Raub said yesterday.
She said upon reaching her house the mother found her daughter lying on bed unconscious
She then asked her neighbour to call for medical assistance.
"Her daughter was taken to the emergency ward of the Segamat Hospital here, but she is believed to have died before she could be given any treatment.
"A further check revealed that bruises were found on the victim's back and head," added Raub
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
