Syarikat Takaful Malaysia sees 8.3% increase in Q3 profit

PETALING JAYA: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd reported an 8.3% rise in net profit to RM48.57 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2017 against RM44.86 million in the previous corresponding period, attributable to higher sales generated by both family takaful and general takaful businesses.
Revenue expanded 11.5% from RM426.97 million to RM476.24 million.
The group told Bursa Malaysia that it will undertake an enhanced approach to its distribution channel by accelerating digital initiatives to optimise its operations and marketing activities.
"The company will actively cultivate its digital presence through an online sales portal and integrated online marketing initiatives as part of its long term strategy to meet the growing needs of the consumers," it added.
For the first nine months, Takaful Malaysia's net profit rose 9.8% from RM137.02 million to RM150.4 million on the back of a 6.5% increase in revenue from RM1.52 billion to RM1.62 billion.
The counter closed unchanged at RM3.83 on Friday, with some 422,900 shares changing hands.
