Thou shall not drink?

IT was Chinese New Year eve, and seven national divers thought it would be alright to have some beer.
So they had some during a Chinese New Year's Eve dinner when they were on a three-day break in Guangzhou. The event was said to be hosted by an accommodation manager in China.
A video of the little drink-up went viral months later, and Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (Asum) acted promptly. The athletes' allowances have been suspended with immediate effect.
"Three coaches were there for the trip but were unaware of the filmed incident, which took place behind closed doors in a private area," Asum said in a statement.
The statement also highlighted the divers' successes, including the silver and bronze medals won at the World Series 1 and 2 in China and Japan before bagging three medals at the Commonwealth Games.
"The athletes have admitted their wrongdoing and they have promised never to do it again. They have learned from their mistake and they would like to offer an apology to the public.
"An investigation committee will determine what action to be taken against them. And we will forward their recommendations to the Asum disciplinary committee."
Is the punishment fitting? Is it even necessary?
