Rasuah: Pegawai polis dipenjara 12 bulan, denda RM25,000

KUANTAN: Seorang pegawai polis berpangkat ASP dipenjara 12 bulan dan denda RM25,000 selepas didapati bersalah menerima rasuah RM5,000 berkaitan kes dadah yang dikendalinya, lima tahun lepas.

Hakim Mahkamah Sesyen Datuk Ahmad Zamzani Mohd Zain menjatuhkan hukuman itu terhadap Hasbullah Ali Alias, 48, dan memerintahkannya dipenjara enam bulan jika gagal membayar denda.

Keputusan itu dibuat pada akhir kes pembelaan selepas mahkamah mendengar keterangan 18 saksi pendakwaan dan dua saksi pembelaan.

“Selepas mahkamah mendengar semua keterangan saksi pendakwaan dan pembelaan, mahkamah mendapati tertuduh gagal menimbulkan keraguan munasabah dan gagal memberikan penjelasan untuk mematahkan anggapan atas imbangan kebarangkalian dan pendakwaan berjaya membuktikan kes melampaui keraguan munasabah,“ katanya.

Ahmad Zamzani membenarkan permohonan tertuduh yang kini digantung tugas untuk menangguhkan hukuman penjara kerana berhasrat mengemukakan rayuan terhadap sabitan dan hukuman.

Hasbullah yang sebelum ini berkhidmat di Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Narkotik, Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen (IPK) Pahang didakwa menerima suapan itu daripada seorang lelaki di sebuah restoran di Jalan Beserah di sini pada 12.37 tengah hari, 7 Mei 2018.

Suapan wang tunai itu didakwa untuk diberikan kepada Timbalan Pendakwa Raya berhubung kes dadah.

Bagi kesalahan itu, tertuduh didakwa mengikut Seksyen 17(a) Akta Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) 2009 yang boleh dihukum di bawah Seksyen 24 akta sama yang membawa hukuman penjara maksimum 20 tahun dan denda lima kali nilai suapan atau RM10,000 yang mana lebih tinggi, jika sabit kesalahan.

Pendakwaan dikendalikan Timbalan Pendakwa Raya SPRM Muhammad Asraf Mohamed Tahir, manakala tertuduh diwakili peguam Datuk Syed Azimal Amir Syed Abu Bakar. -Bernama
