SUBANG JAYA: AWC Bhd, through its wholly owned subsidiary Ambang Wira Sdn Bhd, has received confirmation from the Ministry of Works (MoW) that the government has approved a one-year extension to its existing 10-year concession agreement.
The concession, originally set to end on December 31, 2025, will now be extended from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
The MoW has also provided a fair copy of the interim agreement—relating to the existing privatisation agreement for building support services for government buildings in the southern and Sarawak zones—for execution by both Ambang Wira and the government.
The interim agreement will come into effect upon signature by both parties.
Although it does not specify a contract sum, the estimated value of the works for the one-year extension is approximately RM63.7 million, based on current rates and the scope of services under the existing concession.
The concession agreement involves the management, maintenance, and
upkeep of federal government buildings across the southern zone (covering
Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor) and the Sarawak zone.
These services have historically also included the critical asset refurbishment programme (CARP) under the existing concession framework.
AWC group CEO and president Datuk Ahmad Kabeer Mohamed Nagoor said the company is delighted to have secured a one-year extension to the concession agreement.
“This reflects our proven delivery and strong track record as the incumbent. We also sincerely appreciate the trust and confidence the MoW has placed in us.
“Having managed the concession since 1998, the group remains confident in our capabilities, and we will continue delivering high-quality services to support the government’s facilities management needs. At the same time, we are actively preparing and working closely on the tender for the new concession,” he said in a statement.
AWC has been responsible for the management, maintenance, and upkeep of
Federal Government buildings across the southern zone and the Sarawak zone since June 1998 under a concession structure.
The concession was subsequently renewed for 10 years, commencing in 2016 and is set to expire in December 2025.
The CARP runs concurrently with the concession.
“The extension gives us earnings clarity and enhances our recurring revenue
base. Additionally, it brings the total contracts announced in FY26 to
approximately RM257 million.
“Meanwhile, all our key divisions continue to maintain a healthy tender pipeline as our team actively pursues new opportunities.
“Overall, the group maintains a positive outlook while remaining prudent and attentive to developments within the broader macroeconomic environment,” Ahmad said.
