First round shortlist done for third National Car

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has shortlisted a few companies for the third national car project in its first round of evaluation of the 20 odd companies which had expressed interest.

International Trade & Industry Ministry deputy secretary-general (industry) Datin K Talagavathi (pix) said it will go through the second round of evaluation this month.

“We haven’t gone into detailed discussions as yet. There are other agencies that are also going to be involved in this national car project. There will be some announcements soon, so we will be working with them. It is still work in progress,“ she told reporters at the E-commerce Day 2018 event today.

She said the submission period for proposals has closed.

It was previously reported that Khazanah Nasional Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd and DRB-Hicom Bhd’s subsidiary Composites Technology Research Malaysia are among the possible partners for the third national car project.
