Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will visit Ethiopia, South Africa and Kenya to strengthen economic cooperation and explore new investment opportunities

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will visit Ethiopia, South Africa and Kenya from tomorrow until November 24 to enhance economic relations and create new investment opportunities for Malaysia in Africa.

Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said the visit includes an official government delegation and a business mission to strengthen economic cooperation with Africa’s key markets.

“These three markets offer vast opportunities for collaboration in line with the MADANI government’s aspiration to diversify markets and reinforce Malaysia’s position on the international stage,” he said during a media briefing.

Tunku Nashrul said Anwar’s official visit in his capacity as finance minister will begin in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with a courtesy call on President Taye Atske Selassie.

Both leaders will then participate in the Malaysia-Ethiopia High-Level Business Forum to explore trade and investment opportunities.

Focus will shift to a meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali where bilateral discussions will outline the strategic cooperation agenda.

The visit will conclude with the exchange of several memoranda of understanding between the two nations. – Bernama
