KUALA LUMPUR: NetApp Malaysia Sdn Bhd has introduced a new generation of its EF-Series storage systems, rolling out the EF50 and EF80 to support demanding workloads such as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and transactional databases.

The company said the new systems are designed for enterprises and neocloud providers facing growing pressure to process larger volumes of data and support emerging use cases such as sovereign AI clouds and AI-powered manufacturing.

The latest EF-Series models deliver more than 110 GBps of read throughput and 55 GBps of write throughput, representing a 250% improvement over previous generations.

The systems also offer up to 1.5 PB of storage in a 2U form factor, along with improved power efficiency and rack density.

NetApp senior vice president and general manager of enterprise storage Sandeep Singh said that businesses need infrastructure that can deliver speed, scalability and efficiency as AI, databases and other performance-intensive applications continue to grow.

He added that the new EF-Series systems are built to help customers deploy and scale high-throughput, low-latency workloads more efficiently while reducing data centre footprint and operational overhead.

The systems can be paired with parallel file systems such as Lustre and BeeGFS to accelerate HPC simulations and support GPU-intensive environments.

NetApp said the updated EF-Series builds on a long track record of durability and reliability, with more than one million installations worldwide.
