Pahang state government is in talks with Aeon to export local SME products, including Musang King durian and patin fish, to Japan.
KUANTAN: The Pahang state government is actively promoting local small and medium enterprise products for export, with a particular focus on the Japanese market.
State FELDA Affairs, Cooperatives and Entrepreneurs Committee chairman Datuk Amizar Abu Adam said this is being pursued through strategic collaborations with major supermarket chains.
He confirmed that initial discussions have been held with retail giant Aeon Co (M) Bhd to facilitate this goal.

“This is a work in progress as Pahang has several products, including ‘musang king’ durian, ‘patin’ freshwater fish, and local snacks such as ‘kerepek’ that are ready to be marketed abroad,” he said.
Amizar stated that further discussions are ongoing, as several requirements must be met before finalising the export arrangements.
He said the efforts aim to introduce Pahang products to a broader international market, thereby benefiting local entrepreneurs.
“The most important aspect is that we can bring (our products) to Japan, not just in Aeon Malaysia,” he told reporters after officiating the opening of the first Aeon supermarket outlet in Kuantan.
Amizar also expressed hope that Aeon would open more outlets in Pahang to create job opportunities and help reduce the state’s unemployment rate.
Aeon is a leading retail chain in Malaysia, operating 27 malls, 34 stores, and numerous other outlets nationwide. – Bernama
