MSMEs affected by the global supply crisis can seek RM205 million in SINAR assistance via SME Corp, says deputy minister.
PARIT: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the global supply crisis can obtain information on financial assistance under the People’s Industry and Business Support Programme (SINAR) through SME Corp Malaysia.
Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said RM205 million had been allocated under the programme to help MSMEs remain competitive while easing the burden caused by the crisis.
“All facilities under the SINAR programme are administered by SME Corp. Entrepreneurs can obtain further information and submit applications for the capital injection needed to strengthen their businesses.
“Eligible entrepreneurs may apply for financing of up to RM5 million, depending on their business needs and size,” he said after officiating the Entrepreneurs, Cooperatives and Jelajah Yakin Carnival for the Bota state constituency at Dewan Dato’ Ahmad Hambal, here today.
On June 7, KUSKOP Minister Steven Sim said the RM205 million programme comprises five financial and non-financial initiatives to help MSMEs maintain cash flow, sustain operations and strengthen business resilience.
In another development, Mohamad encouraged small entrepreneurs to obtain the MSME Status Certification issued by SME Corp, saying it would facilitate access to various forms of government and agency assistance, financing and incentives.
He also said the government remains committed to strengthening the cooperative movement in collaboration with the Perak state government, having approved an allocation of nearly RM800,000 this year to support cooperatives in the state.
“For KUSKOP, this is a positive step that will help develop the entrepreneurship and cooperative sectors, particularly in Perak. We will also gather feedback and views to enable us to better support entrepreneurs in the state,” he said.
