Masjid Maqbul gali telaga bantu penduduk

GEORGE TOWN: Gangguan bekalan air berjadual selama empat hari bermula 10 Jan di Pulau Pinang mendorong Masjid Maqbul di Teluk Kumbar, dekat sini mengambil inisiatif untuk menggali telaga tiub (air boring) bagi membantu penduduk di kawasan itu mendapatkan bekalan air.

Ia juga bagi memastikan Masjid Maqbul sentiasa memiliki bekalan air mencukupi, termasuk ketika musim kemarau, sekali gus memastikan keselesaan jemaah.

Pengerusi Kariah Masjid Maqbul Datuk Prof. Emeritus Muhammad Idiris Saleh berkata idea untuk menghasilkan telaga air boring itu tercetus susulan gangguan bekalan air ketika paip bocor di Sungai Perai 18 Dis lepas sehingga menyebabkan kawasan itu tidak mendapat bekalan air hingga empat dan lima hari.

Katanya berikutan itu pihak masjid mengadakan perbincangan dan bersetuju untuk menggali telaga air boring dengan peruntukan RM32,000 hasil sumbangan ahli kariah, orang ramai dan Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Bayan Lepas Datuk Azrul Mahathir Aziz serta Ahli Parlimen Balik Pulau Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik.

“Kawasan kejiranan di sekitar Teluk Kumbar ini jika berlaku gangguan air, apabila pulih, penduduk di sini paling lambat terima air kerana berada di penghujung saluran paip agihan.

“Jadi pihak masjid berpendapat adalah baik jika kita gali telah air boring yang bukan sahaja boleh digunakan oleh jemaah di masjid malah insya-Allah turut boleh dimanfaatkan penduduk setempat ketika krisis air nanti,“ katanya kepada Bernama hari ini.

Muhammad Idiris berkata telaga air boring itu dilengkapi dengan sistem penapisan supaya ia menjadi air mineral, bukan setakat boleh digunakan untuk kegunaan mandi, ambil wuduk dan sebagainya sebaliknya turut boleh diminum.

Sebelum ini, Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang (PBAPP) mengumumkan kira-kira 590,000 pengguna termasuk bukan domestik akan mengalami gangguan air berjadual selama 96 jam bermula pukul 6 pagi pada 10 Jan hingga 6 pagi 14 Jan bagi membolehkan kerja penggantian dua unit injap di Loji Rawatan Air Sungai Dua serta kerja sampingan lain di 22 lokasi di seluruh Pulau Pinang. –Bernama
