‘Have common sense lah!’: Netizen slams commuter after drink spills on passengers, leaves mess behind

A netizen’s frustrated post about a spilled drink on public transport triggers heated reactions online over a lack of basic manners.

A netizen’s frustrated post about a spilled drink on public transport has triggered heated reactions online, with many Malaysians criticising what they described as a lack of basic manners among some commuters.

In a Threads post, the user shared photos and videos showing a drink spilled across the floor of a crowded public transport coach, allegedly leaving several passengers with wet shoes and trousers after stepping into the mess.

Expressing frustration over the incident, the netizen wrote: “To all public transport users, please be responsible and have some common sense.

“It’s really sad to see innocent people end up with wet trousers and shoes because of spilled water. And after it was spilled, no one even bothered to pick it up.

“At the very least, please pick it up and try to wipe it with tissue or something.”

The post quickly gained traction online, with many netizens flooding the comments section to express their frustration over what they described as inconsiderate behaviour in shared public spaces.

Many also pointed out that food and drinks are not allowed on certain public transport services, questioning why the drink was brought on board in the first place.

Others said the issue was not merely about the accidental spill, but also the lack of accountability afterwards, despite other passengers being inconvenienced.

“This happened right beside me before, and the person ran out of the train just as the doors were closing. They didn’t even apologise to the girl and me who got splashed with coffee,” one user, kimmiemaey, commented.

“That’s exactly why eating and drinking aren’t allowed on public transport, because things like this can happen,” mohdiskandarmdsulaiman pointed out.

“Please, everyone else can also help report it to RapidKL, since the person who spilled it clearly had no common sense to report it themselves. They’ll send cleaners to mop it up. Don’t just stand there and watch. We all saw that the water didn’t even dry up after five minutes,” nadiasb94 suggested.
