Malaysian live host claims she was dismissed after outperforming colleagues, with employer citing sales imbalance.
WHILE the belief remains that hard work can open doors in the working world, that is not always the case, as a Malaysian woman was allegedly terminated from her live host gig.
The reason behind her dismissal left the freelance content creator both baffled and upset.
“Throughout my time as a live host, I have never been let go for this reason,” she claimed in a viral Threads post.
The content creator alleged she was dismissed from her position as a live host despite what she described as a stellar performance.
According to a screenshot she shared, the employer allegedly told her that the other live hosts were struggling to make sales when she was on duty.
“The audience choose to wait for your livestreams, so it’s a pity the others feel down during their livestreams even though we have boosted the advertisements.
“To be fair, we are also looking out for our other live hosts too,” the employer allegedly told the woman.
Netizens were equally confused by the reason behind her alleged termination, as it is generally expected for businesses to retain high-performing staff, particularly when performance directly impacts sales.
“We’re doing business, not trying to protect staff feelings, especially when it doesn’t make sense like this. They should have told the other host to learn from you on how to capture the audience,” one user pointed out.
