The staff member added that the Lexus SUV was filled with RON97 petrol, with the bill coming to RM139.01.
Earlier this month, a Singapore-registered car owner went viral after being caught on video filling his vehicle with subsidised RON95 petrol in Kulai.
Now, another Singapore-registered vehicle has drawn public attention again — this time for driving off without paying for a hefty RON97 petrol bill.
According to China Press, the incident took place at a petrol station along a highway in Skudai, Johor, at around 9pm on Wednesday (Jan 21).
A female petrol station employee told the Mandarin-language daily that the man, who was driving a Singapore-registered Lexus SUV, requested a full tank of RON97 petrol upon arrival. As a result, payment was not collected upfront.
Meanwhile, a woman who was travelling in the same vehicle entered the convenience store to purchase some items.
Upon completing her purchase, the woman returned to the SUV, after which the male driver immediately drove away.
“As the staff outside were busy at the time, it took a while before we realised they had left without paying. We tried to chase after the vehicle but failed,” she said.
She added that despite efforts by other motorists who witnessed the incident and honked to alert the pair, the SUV did not stop.
The staff member said the Lexus SUV was filled with RON97 petrol, totalling RM139.01.
“If the driver does not return to make payment, the bill will have to be borne by the petrol station and staff who assisted with the refuelling. On top of that, that staff may face a salary deduction too.
“We hope netizens can help remind the driver to return to the petrol station as soon as possible and pay the bill.”
