Singapore ‘pakcik’ wins hearts with simple daily posts

A Singapore-based retiree wins fans on Threads with simple daily posts that inspire gratitude and slow living

IN an era dominated by fast-scrolling reels and fleeting posts, a Malay ‘pakcik’ living in Singapore is encouraging people to slow down and appreciate everyday life.

Abdul Razak Ahmad, a senior citizen, has gained a following among younger netizens on Threads with his simple updates about his daily routine—posts that many say warm their hearts.

He shares snippets of his life, from having lunch and visiting a beachside park with his wife to tending the greenery in his small garden at home.

In a post last Tuesday, he uploaded a selfie taken outside his house, along with a photo of his dining table set for breakfast.

“I commenced my day with Fajar prayer and subsequently enjoyed a simple yet satisfying bread-and-butter breakfast, for which I am grateful,” he captioned the post.

In other updates, he shared how his craving for mee siam was satisfied on New Year’s Day with his wife, as well as a simple McDonald’s breakfast before heading for a medical check-up.

His relaxed retirement lifestyle has drawn praise from many netizens, who describe his posts as comforting and “feel-good” content.

Hasbullah commented that his posts are “a thousand times better” than the “annoying” and irrelevant content shared by some Gen Z users.

“Keep posting your daily routine, uncle. I do enjoy reading this,” wrote Nurul.

Sheera Hassan said she looks forward to enjoying retirement like Uncle Razak, though she still has 27 years to go.

“Such a simple post, but very heartwarming. Stay well, atuk,” commented Karnee Karem.

Feissal added that the posts serve as a reminder for today’s busy adults to be thankful for the little things in life.
