A teacher declined a parent’s request for exam answers one day before the test, sparking online debate about parental over-involvement in education.
AS parents become increasingly involved in their children’s schooling through WhatsApp group chats and personal inquiries, this can turn out to be either a boon or a bane — especially for teachers.
In a viral post on Threads, a local teacher was quite taken aback to find a parent allegedly asking her for exam answers.

Worse still, the parent had made the request a day before the exam.
Naturally, the teacher declined the parent’s request, saying: “Of course cannot. It’s an exam.”

Many commenters believed that the message could have come from the student, but in a later update, the student confirmed that it was indeed her mother who had asked for the exam answers.
To make matters worse, the mother actually wanted to obtain a picture of the exam paper.
Netizens shared the teacher’s shock and criticised the parent’s sense of entitlement.
“Parents like these are setting their kids up for failure. Let children go through life and all its difficulties,” one user said.
“I believe parents these days are too much because they have direct access to communicate with teachers.
“Back then, there was no such thing,” commented another.
