Ed Sheeran releases Play – The Remixes EP

ED Sheeran has released Play – The Remixes EP, which reimagines tracks from his ninth UK number one album Play through new collaborations with South Asian artists.

Leading the release is Symmetry, featuring Punjabi singer Karan Aujla. The official video, directed by Liam Pethick, showcases performances by Sheeran, Aujla and Norwegian dance group The Quick Style.

The EP revisits four tracks from Play with contributions from Hanumankind, Dhee, Santhosh Narayanan, Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi. Production comes from ILYA, Johnny McDaid, Savan Kotecha, FRED and Elvira Anderfjärd.

The project grew out of Sheeran’s recording sessions in India, where he spent a month working with local musicians and exploring regional sounds. During that time, he connected with several of the EP’s collaborators, including Arijit Singh, with whom he worked on the track Sapphire.

Sheeran said recording Play in India was a memorable experience that deepened his appreciation for the region’s musical diversity.

“Being there over the last decade through touring, I’ve met lots of local artists and been introduced to all types of music and cultures. I loved the collaboration process and wanted to represent as much as I could on this EP,” he said.
