Kos Atos marks the end of a 12-year indie journey with a song about acceptance
MALANG-based indie band Kos Atos has released the music video for its single Lagu Untukmu, the opening track from its seventh album.
Released on May 15 through the band’s YouTube channel, the song marks the end of Kos Atos’s more than 12-year run in Indonesia’s independent music scene.
The track follows the release of Si Alan, OTW and carries a message of self-acceptance, support and perseverance. Written by Eka Catra and Fajar Sandy, Lagu Untukmu was produced and arranged by Kos Atos, with recording done at Creatorix Studio.
“This song was originally written for Kos Atos’s sixth album. When it was first written, it only had a verse, which was then perfected by Fajar Sandy for the chorus,” said Eka.
Musically, the song moves in an alternative-pop direction with a relaxed arrangement and lyrics about getting through difficult moments.
Music video director Michelle Brily said the song reflects the emotional weight often felt by young adults.
“Looking at the lyrics and composition, this song is actually very relatable to the lives of today’s youth, especially those approaching adulthood, namely those in their 25s and 30s, who are often battling with their own thoughts and feelings in various situations,” she said.
The music video was shot at Bahari Irish Pub in Malang. The location was chosen to reflect the song’s idea of a place to return to, gather and feel accepted.
Directed by Michelle, the video features Lina Rochmawati in the lead role. Her performance centres on a person trying to come to terms with her circumstances and regain her sense of strength.
The production team includes Zulfan Bahtiar as cameraman and editor, with Aliyu, Dimas, Indhy, Arinda and the Boarding House Guard listed as crew members.
Lagu Untukmu is available on Kos Atos’s official YouTube channel, with release on digital platforms to follow.
