GEORGE TOWN: Penang police collected RM517,510 in traffic fines and summonses at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Solidarity Ride Programme near here yesterday.
Penang Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Supt Wan Sharuddin Wan Omar said 10 counters were opened at the Queensbay shopping centre in Bayan Lepas, for the public to check and pay their summons from 9am to 4pm.
“Up to 50% discount was offered for several types of summons,“ he said in a statement, here today.
He said 4,667 summonses were paid yesterday mostly for using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seat belts, for modifying the vehicle’s structure, speeding and parking offences. — Bernama
