PETALING JAYA: A toddler has died after being left in a vehicle for eight hours in Ara Damansara.

The two-year-old child’s mother had reportedly forgotten to send her to her kindergarten yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid stated that the police received information of the child’s death at 3.40pm recalling that the child was found in an unconscious state at a house in Ara Damansara.

Preliminary investigations showed the mother, in her 30s, had dropped off her two other children at their school and then travelled to her two-year-old child’s kindergarten.

“Upon reaching the kindergarten, the victim’s mother briefly stopped to handle her online business, and forgot to drop her daughter off.

“The mother went back home and only realised that the child was unconscious in the car at 3.35pm,“ Mohamad Fakhrudin said in a statement today.

The victim’s father then contacted the 999 hotline after realising his daughter’s state and had provided first aid assistance before the ambulance and police arrived at the house.

“The victim was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for further treatment and was declared dead.

“A post-mortem will be conducted today, and the case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001,“ he added
