KOTA BELUD: The corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes implemented by Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), together with Focus Point Vision Care Group Sdn Bhd (Focus Point), have benefited 400 recipients in Sabah.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said that, out of the total, 200 people received the distribution of necessities including rice, cooking oil and biscuits, while another 200 were the recipients of spectacles.

He said that of the number, 200 people received the benefit in the rural area in Kadamaian here today, while another 200 people in the Penampang area received the benefit last month.

“We appreciate the contribution of Pernas and Focus Point, who travelled far to rural villages, and inland, to provide this assistance, and I hope more government agencies and private companies go to rural areas as part of CSR to help people in need.

“This initiative helps the people by providing them with food baskets and spectacles, to ease the burden of living costs,” he told reporters, after officiating the Pernas Prihatin CSR and the Focus Point Spectacles donation, in Kadamaian today.

Also present were Pernas Investment Division head Tengku Mohamed Fadhli Tengku Hamzah and optician, who is also Focus Point branch manager, Teng Yee Jiun.

Pernas has previously donated 800 boxes of essentials for the underprivileged in Perak, Penang, Johor and Sarawak, while Focus Point implemented 22 CSR programmes by donating more than 490 pairs of spectacles to those who assistance for low vision this year.–Bernama
