HULU TERENGGANU: Donations and assistance to the Orang Asli people who have also been affected by the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection, will be done in stages.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said the ministry through the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) would make sure that every Orang Asli would receive aid from its Covid-19 Musa’adah Fund and no one would be left behind.

“We will distribute the aid from time to time and as quickly as possible. Our intention is to ensure that the issue of food shortage does not arise during the MCO.

“We will donate to each house. If the donation is not received, do not worry because Jakim will provide the assistance immediately,” he told reporters after presenting food and cash aid from Jakim’s Covid-19 Musa’adah Fund to 124 families at Sungai Berua Orang Asli settlement, here today.

Terengganu is the fourth state to receive the aid after Perak, Pahang and Kelantan. - Bernama
