Bruneian and Malaysian wife nabbed for drug trafficking

MIRI: A Bruneian and his Malaysian wife were arrested for alleged involvement in drug trafficking when police raided a house in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Jalan Pujut-Lutong, here today.

Miri district police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said drugs worth RM12,000 were seized during the raid at 10.30am.

The suspects are a man from Brunei aged 40 and his 35-year-old Malaysian wife, who is from Kampung Lereng Bukit.

“The suspect from Brunei has five cases related to drugs. Both the suspects also tested positive for drugs,” he said in a statement tonight, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He said they were believed to have been distributing drugs in the village and Miri town. - Bernama
