Fahmi: HeiTech Padu awarded contract through open tender

PUTRAJAYA: The MySikap contract was awarded to HeiTech Padu Bhd through an open tender process, and is completely unrelated to recent changes in the company’s shareholding structure, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil (pix).

Fahmi, who is also the Unity government spokesman , said that the Ministry of Transport’s Tender Board approved the contract to the company on Nov 24, 2023, before being endorsed by the Ministry of Finance on Feb 2 this year.

“The purchase of shares by Rosetta Partners Sdn Bhd only happened on March 16, meaning the decision to award the tender to HeiTech Padu was made since last year,“ he told the media here today.

He said this in response to questions from some quarters suggesting that the tender was awarded to the company because the largest shareholder of HeiTech Padu is Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador, former political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Farhash emerged as a new major shareholder of HeiTech Padu in March with an indirect interest of 15.9 percent.

Fahmi said Anwar and Transport Minister Anthony Loke had also provided detailed explanations on the matter to the Cabinet today.

Furthermore, he said the Prime Minister also informed that so far, HeiTech Padu has not received any new approvals in any tender.

“The Transport Minister will also issue a comprehensive statement regarding the tender today.

“Any party wishing to comment or issue a statement should be based on facts,“ he stressed.

HeiTech Padu, in a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, informed that the company had received a letter of appointment from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) involving a tender worth RM190.01 million.

The technology service provider said the tender was for maintenance and technical support services for information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and the MySIKAP system at all JPJ offices.

The contract for a 36-month period is reported will be from May 1 until April 30, 2027, and is expected to contribute positively to the revenue and net assets per share of HeiTech Padu for the financial year ending on Dec 31, 2024, and thereafter until the completion of the contract.
