Faraid cert: Jamaluddin Jarjis’ mother files affidavit-in-reply against his widow’s objection

KUALA LUMPUR: Mother of former minister, the late Tan Sri Jamaluddin Mohd Jarjis, today filed an affidavit-in-reply against the preliminary objection filed by her son’s widow and four children to her application to obtain the faraid certificate on his estate worth over RM2 billion.

Syariah lawyer Nur Hidayah A. Bakar representing Jamaluddin’s mother, Aminah Abdullah, 85, said this to reporters after the management of the case, which was held in chambers before Syariah High Court registrar Siti Zulaiha Mohamad Mansor.

“Aminah has filed an affidavit-in-reply against the preliminary objection submitted by her son’s widow, Puan Sri Dr Kalsom Ismail and four children. The court set March 4 for next case management to enable the widow and the children to file their affidavit-in-reply,” she said.

Aminah filed the application to obtain the faraid (wealth distribution) certificate on her son’s estate on March 2 last year.

On the matrimonial claim filed by Kalsom several months after Aminah filed the application for the faraid certificate, the lawyer said the court set Feb 12 for the next case management.

Jamaluddin, who was a former Malaysian Ambassador to the United States, was killed on April 4, 2015, when the helicopter he was travelling in from Pekan, Pahang, en route to Kuala Lumpur, crashed in Kampung Sungai Pening, Semenyih, Selangor.

He is survived by Kalsom, 63, and their four children – Ikwan Hafiz, 32, Nur Anis, 34, Nurul Alyaa, 28, and Noor Adilla, 24.

Also killed in the crash were the pilot, Captain Clifford William Fournier; former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s private secretary Datuk Seri Azlin Alias; businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang; Jamaludin’s personal aide Razakan Seran; and a woman known as Aidana Baizieva. — Bernama
