KANGAR: Perlis PAS commissioner and Sangland assemblyman Ustaz Mohd Shukri Ramli (pix) is now in a stable condition after he collapsed while delivering a speech at the PAS-Umno Perpaduan Ummah ceremah here last night.
He became unconscious and was administered first aid by the civil defence personnel and volunteers who were on standby before he was rushed by ambulance to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital.
According to his son, who declined to be named, Shukri is now sedated so he can rest.
Results from a series of tests performed by the doctors, including a CT scan, are expected soon.
Shukri, who is a two-term assemblyman and considered a protégé of PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Hashim Jasin, was speaking on the importance of unity between two parties when he suddenly slumped on the podium.
The incident disrupted the ceramah as top officials, including PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Hashim and Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim rushed to his aid.
