Unclaimed, unused e-Tunai will return to govt

MIRI: Any unclaimed RM30 e-Tunai by the deadline of March 9 will be returned to the federal government, said Senator Alan Ling (pix).

The same applies for forfeited e-Tunai funds not utilised by the March 14 deadline.

Ling pointed out the incentive is for the people and not the three selected e-wallet operators Grab, Boost, and Touch ‘n Go.

“This RM30 incentive is for the people, if it is not claimed by next March 9, it will be returned to the government,” he said when launching the e-Tunai for Boost here on Monday.

The Pakatan Harapan Sarawak secretary said the incentive seeks to encourage digital payments among the people.

“At the same time, the government is also encouraging traders to register and sell online as it would boost their income,” he said.

As of Sunday, 2.9 million applications for the RM30 e-Tunai had been received and 2.2 million applications approved involving RM66 million in payments.

The RM30 digital stimulus programme involves an allocation of RM450 million for Malaysians aged 18 and above who earn less than RM100,000 per annum.

Among those present for the event were Boost Sarawak regional manager Frisca Freddy, Boost Kuching manager Diana Abas, and Boost Miri and Bintulu manager Eric Kee Kwang Wei. — The Borneo Post
