LABUAN: A total of 112 units of Rumah Bantuan MAIWP at Ganggarak Permai have been occupied by eligible asnaf recipients since July.

Rumah Bantuan MAIWP forms part of a housing assistance programme implemented by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council for qualified recipients.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar confirmed that 72 units were distributed under the Hibah Programme while 40 were offered through the Rent-to-Own Programme.

“Under the Hibah Programme, recipients receive their homes free of charge, while participants of the Rent-to-Own Programme pay between RM150 and RM250 monthly, depending on their age, until full ownership is achieved,” he told reporters after visiting occupants at Ganggarak Permai.

Mohd Na’im stated that each house features three bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a dry yard with a floor area between 800 and 850 square feet.

“To ensure residents’ comfort, MAIWP also provided essential furnishings, including three bed sets with mattresses, three wardrobes, a dining set, a gas stove and cylinder, kitchen cabinets, curtains, and safety grilles,” he added.

Mohd Na’im revealed that this first MAIWP housing project on the island involved total expenditure of RM33.83 million with RM3.22 million specifically allocated for household furnishings. – Bernama
