PETALING JAYA: Authorities are set to convene discussions aimed at implementing strategic improvements for the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) Bandar Menjalara interchange.
The Star reported today that the proposed solutions to address the persistent bottleneck at MRR2 Bandar Manjalara interchange to be discussed during upcoming meetings.
According to Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s political secretary, Yap Yee Vonne, the matter was recently brought to the attention of the Public Works Department (JKR) of Petaling and Gombak, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), as well as the management of the DUKE Highway, which directly feeds into the MRR2.
“We have asked the authorities to conduct a thorough traffic flow study to fully understand the situation and come up with long-term solutions.
“We have suggested for JKR to consider restricting heavy vehicles during peak hours as well as implement a contra-flow system, among the long-term measures,“ she was quoted as saying.
She also said the MP’s office is currently awaiting JKR’s report and recommendations from consultants before convening another meeting to map out a timeline for the proposed improvements.
The meeting will also involve representatives from neighbouring constituencies, such as Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Phua Pei Ling.
Federal Territories residents representative council (MPPWP) of Segambut Zone 1 chairman, Datuk Seri Yap Keow Keong, has welcomed the authorities’ efforts, acknowledging the long-standing congestion issues in the area.
“The crux of the problem is that six lanes of traffic from Jalan Taman Bukit Maluri, MRR2 and DUKE Highway all merge into a single lane feeding the MRR2, creating a major bottleneck,“ he was quoted as saying.
While recent repair works on expansion joints and road resurfacing have provided some relief, he stressed that more comprehensive, long-term solutions are necessary to address the persistent gridlock.
