Jasin MP injured in early morning car crash

Melaka PAS commissioner Zulkifli Ismail sustains minor injuries while his wife suffers chest pain in a two-vehicle crash at a traffic light intersection.

ALOR GAJAH: Jasin Member of Parliament Zulkifli Ismail sustained minor injuries while his wife suffered chest pain after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a collision with another car at the Jelatang traffic light intersection on Lebuh AMJ (Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin) here today.

Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said that in the 5.20 am accident, the 60-year-old Melaka PAS Commissioner was driving a Nissan Teana from the Jelatang traffic-light intersection, while a Perodua Axia was traveling from Alor Gajah toward Gadek.

He said the Perodua Axia was driven by a 30-year-old female factory worker, whose three friends were also in the car.

“As a result of the accident, Zulkifli suffered cuts to both hands, while his wife experienced chest pain. The driver of the Perodua Axia was reported to have sustained fractures to her ribs and hip bone,” he said in a statement today.

He said the Perodua Axia driver is receiving treatment at Melaka Hospital, while her three friends suffered minor injuries and are also receiving treatment at Alor Gajah Hospital.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
