PORT DICKSON: The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir said UCSI Hospital has the potential to change the healthcare landscape in Negeri Sembilan through the provision of high-quality healthcare.

His Highness said besides the sufficient expertise and doctors, the people of this state, especially in Port Dickson, have many options to seek health services and medical treatment.

“The UCSI Hospital is part of the UCSI Health Metropolis project, which is a mega project planned to make Springhill Town a hub for health tourism and education.

“This project has various accommodation facilities, convention centres, shopping complexes, sports facilities, research laboratories and others. Investment in Springhill Town can make UCSI one of the largest investments in the state,“ he said at the UCSI opening ceremony here today.

Also present was his consort Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud and their son, Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Tuanku Muhriz who is also the UCSI Group Advisor and Pro-Chancellor of UCSI University.

The event was also attended by the Health Minister, Dr Zaliha Mustafa and the UCSI Health Group chairman, Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Dr Zaliha in her speech said that the collaboration of the Health Ministry with private hospitals such as UCSI Hospital can produce a synergy that can achieve some targets in the Health White Paper.

She said to transform the delivery of health services, the synergy between the Ministry of Health and private hospitals can prioritise the delivery of primary healthcare and optimise hospital care services.

“Efforts to strengthen effective public-private collaboration can reduce pressure and congestion in government hospitals, thus ensuring equal access to health services. The result also has the potential to improve health promotion and disease prevention among the community,“ she said.

Dr Zaliha said continued collaboration can strengthen public health functions and intersectoral coordination of health as well as provide incentives for pro-health practices and behaviours from all walks of life.

She said the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and UCSI Hospital will open up new opportunities in the health service industry.

“I understand that this UCSI Hospital provides world-class healthcare treatment in medical specialties such as anesthesiology and critical care, emergency medicine, general and colorectal surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, trauma, pediatrics, radiology and many more services and specialties,“ she said.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said UCSI Hospital also aims to foster a robust public-private partnership that not only improves the quality of healthcare services but also addresses the unique needs of our community, especially the B40 group.

“Our hospital is ready to play an important role in reducing the overcrowding of these public institutions by offering comprehensive and accessible healthcare services to the people of this region.

“Through strategic collaboration, we aim to bridge the gap in healthcare and ensure that B40 patients receive the care they deserve,“ said Dr Noor Hisham.

UCSI Hospital was launched in March 2021 as a facility with a capacity of 130 beds which will eventually equip with 1,000 beds besides being a private hospital with a ‘public wing’, increasing access to quality healthcare. - Bernama
