BALIK PULAU: A facilitator previously detained for allegedly molesting four schoolboys during a motivational camp has had his remand extended by three days.

Barat Daya district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam confirmed the initial seven-day remand order for the 33-year-old man ended today.

He stated the extension was sought to complete the investigation papers for the case.

“Remand for the man has been extended by three days, effective today until Oct 25,” Sazalee said in his statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Media previously reported the man was arrested at his Sungai Petani home in Kedah.

Police acted after receiving a report from the headmaster of the Year Six pupils involved.

The alleged incident occurred on October 12 during a motivational programme at a camp.

The camp involved a primary school from Kerian district in Perak state.

The four boys claimed they were asleep in the male students’ dormitory when the incident happened.

They alleged the suspect touched parts of their bodies while they slept.

Investigations revealed the man was serving as a guest facilitator at the camp.

The victims only reported the incident to their headmaster after returning from the camp programme. – Bernama
