The third-generation CX-5 made its global debut in 2025 and represents the latest version of Mazda’s core C-segment SUV. It will arrive in Malaysia as a fully imported (CBU) model from Japan with a 2.5 litre engine. The current locally assembled (CKD) second-generation CX-5 is expected to continue being sold alongside the new model.
Globally, the all-new CX-5 was introduced with an e-Skyactiv G mild-hybrid engine, consisting of a 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine producing 141 PS and 238 Nm. The engine is paired with a 24V mild-hybrid system and a six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new CX-5 is larger, measuring 4,690 mm long and 1,860 mm wide, with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. That makes it 140 mm longer, 20 mm wider and gives it a 115 mm longer wheelbase than before.
Design-wise, the new CX-5 continues Mazda’s Kodo design direction, but with a more upright and confident SUV stance. It also gets a more distinctive rear end with “Mazda” lettering across the tailgate, replacing the usual badge-led look.

Inside, the new CX-5 moves further away from the current model’s cabin layout, with a larger central touchscreen taking prominence on the dashboard. Bermaz says the cabin has been improved in terms of materials, ergonomics and quietness, while also adding Mazda’s latest connectivity and infotainment technologies.
Alongside the CX-5 preview, Bermaz has also introduced the new Mazda CX-60 3.3L MHEV variant in Malaysia. The new CX-60 3.3G AWD High Plus is priced at RM 252,873 on-the-road without insurance. Like the existing CX-60 2.5L, the new CX-60 3.3L MHEV is fully imported (CBU) from Japan.

The main highlight is the new 3.3 litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with Mazda’s 48V M Hybrid Boost mild-hybrid system. The engine produces 280 hp and 450 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Unlike the CX-60 2.5L variant, which uses rear-wheel drive, the new 3.3L MHEV variant gets Mazda’s rear-wheel-drive-based i-Activ AWD system. It also adds an Off-road mode to the Mi-Drive system, joining the existing Normal and Sport modes.

The CX-60 is built on Mazda’s SkyActiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, which supports a longitudinal front-engine layout, and gets double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, as well as Kinematic Posture Control.
For Malaysia, the CX-60 3.3L MHEV is offered in two exterior and interior pairings. Rhodium White comes with a Pure White interior, while Machine Gray comes with a Tan interior. The Machine Gray version gets a honeycomb grille, black plated signature wing and black 20-inch alloy wheels, while the Rhodium White version gets a bar-type grille and 20-inch Black Machined alloy wheels.

Inside, the 3.3L MHEV variant gets a 12.3-inch multi-information display, Active Driving Display, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Driver Personalization System, ventilated 10-way power front seats, ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
Safety equipment includes Mazda’s i-Activsense suite, with features such as High Beam Assist, Adaptive LED Headlamps, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keep Assist System with Road Departure Prevention, Driver Attention Alert with Driver Monitoring, Front and Rear Smart Brake Support, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Cruising & Traffic Support.
It also comes with a 360-degree View Monitor with See-Through View, parking sensors, and a full suite of airbags.
The CX-60 comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty and five-year free maintenance programme. Both are valid for five years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first. The free maintenance package includes required maintenance, labour, parts and lubricants.
