Kim Jong Un’s daughter visits state mausoleum in latest public appearance

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Ju Ae, visited the Kumsusan mausoleum with her parents, fuelling succession speculation.

SEOUL: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Ju Ae, has made her first public visit to the state mausoleum.

She accompanied her parents to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun to pay respects to former leaders, state media photographs showed on Friday.

Ju Ae was positioned between her father and her mother, Ri Sol Ju, in the main hall during the January 1 visit.

Senior officials also joined the family at the mausoleum.

The visit fuels ongoing speculation that Ju Ae is being prepared as the country’s potential fourth-generation successor.

She has made increasingly prominent appearances in state media over the past three years.

South Korea’s intelligence agency and analysts have suggested she may be in line for future leadership.

Kim Ju Ae, believed to have been born in the early 2010s, also attended this year’s New Year celebrations.

Her first public overseas outing was a trip to Beijing with her father in September.

Kim Jong Un regularly visits Kumsusan to honour his grandfather, state founder Kim Il Sung, and his father, Kim Jong Il.

The visits on key dates affirm the dynastic heritage of the nuclear-armed nation.

North Korea has never officially confirmed Ju Ae’s age. – Reuters
