Kedah’s Raja Muda lauds a grandfather’s brave report on his grandson’s drug abuse, urging others to follow his responsible and moral example.
SUNGAI PETANI: The Raja Muda of Kedah, Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin, has praised an elderly man for reporting his own grandson’s involvement in drug abuse.
His Royal Highness described the action from the Kampung Sungai Pial resident as courageous and responsible during a visit to the man’s home.
“This responsible and brave step shows that he cares deeply for his grandson, as such action can save him from a worse situation,” Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah said.
He was accompanied by the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah, Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff.
The royal stated that reporting wrongdoing is both a religious and moral duty that should not be hidden.
He added that reporting drug abuse to authorities like the National Anti-Drugs Agency allows for necessary action to be taken.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan confirmed the 29-year-old grandson had been arrested previously in 2020, 2023 and 2024 for drug offences.
The suspect was arrested again following his grandfather’s police report requesting immediate action.
“The suspect has been arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” Hanyan said.
Police are seeking to investigate the case under Section 39C of the same act.
