Firefighters found three apartment units ablaze upon arrival, with flames spreading to three more units.
Acting Assistant Director of Operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah estimated 90% damage to the affected flats.
“Firefighters faced difficulties entering the units due to the intensity of the fire,” he said in a statement.
He noted some units were locked from the inside, with metal grilles further hampering access.
The fire was brought under control by 2.30 pm, with the operation concluding at 5.49 pm.
No injuries were reported from the apartment fire.
In a second incident, four terrace houses in Kampung Kuala Pari Hilir, Menglembu, were damaged by fire around 4 pm.
The fire involved four single-storey terrace houses along Jalan Muhammad Rashid.
Two houses sustained about 90% damage, one suffered 50% damage, and another about 30%.
No casualties were reported from this fire either.
Following the Kampung Kuala Pari Hilir blaze, 22 residents from four families were evacuated.
They were moved to a temporary evacuation centre at the Kampung Kuala Pari Community Hall.
The Kinta District Civil Defence Force (APM) said the centre opened at 6 pm.
“A total of seven children, one elderly person, one person with disabilities, and 13 other victims were placed at the centre,” it stated. – Bernama
