A sinkhole has forced the temporary closure of the Kertau-Kuala Wau road in Chenor to heavy vehicles, with repairs underway and an alternative route suggested.

KUANTAN: The Kertau–Kuala Wau road in Chenor has been temporarily closed to heavy vehicles following a sinkhole incident.

Maran District Police said the damage, spanning approximately 30 meters, was caused by soil settlement and movement at a base culvert section.

The Public Works Department is currently carrying out repair works at the affected location to ensure safety.

A one-way lane remains accessible for light vehicles, but heavy vehicles are prohibited until repairs are completed.

Road users are advised to exercise caution when passing through the area.

They are encouraged to use the Chenor-Gambang-Chini alternative route if necessary.
