Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the government is elevating Islam as a foundation for national governance, not just an identity, based on compassion, justice and wisdom.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Madani government is elevating Islam as a foundation for national governance and leadership, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
In a post on X, Anwar said the effort is based on the values of ihsan (compassion), justice and wisdom, not merely as an identity.
He said the effort has been strengthened through meetings and dialogues with prominent local and international ulama.
These engagements were held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, he added.
They provided a platform for candid exchanges on challenges facing the Muslim community.
Discussions also covered the role of Islamic leadership in an increasingly complex world.
“I emphasise the need for Islamic leadership to be firm and courageous on matters affecting the community,” Anwar said.
He said leadership must actively seek just and dignified solutions.
This includes defending the human rights of those suffering in Gaza.
Anwar also prayed that every effort to elevate Islam be guided by integrity and wisdom.
He hopes these efforts bring benefits to the Muslim community and humanity as a whole.
