Police corporal Fairus Khamis, who was left in a coma after a Seremban hit-and-run in June 2025, has passed away at home
PETALING JAYA: Police corporal Fairus Khamis has passed away, more than nine months after being left critically injured in a hit-and-run incident in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
The Negeri Sembilan police force confirmed his death in a Facebook post, stating that Fairus — who had remained in a coma since the incident — drew his last breath at 6.10am at his home in Seremban.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, representing the state contingent, extended his deepest condolences to Fairus’s family.
The tragedy began on the morning of June 2, 2025, when Fairus was riding his motorcycle at around 7.55am and was sideswiped by an unidentified vehicle. The impact caused him to lose control and crash. He sustained broken ribs and severe internal head bleeding, requiring emergency surgery.
His wife, Rozalina Jaafar, had previously revealed to Sinar Harian that her husband underwent a total of five surgeries, including a procedure in which half of his skullcap had to be removed.
Three months after the incident, Rozalina disclosed that the driver responsible for the hit-and-run had still not been identified or apprehended — a fact that compounded the family’s anguish throughout his long and painful battle for survival.
