A 23-year-old social media influencer pleads not guilty to raping a 15-year-old and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old in Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR: A social media influencer has been charged in the Sessions Court with raping and sexually assaulting two teenage girls.
Muhammad Iman Hazriq Azizan, 23, pleaded not guilty to both charges read before Judges Tasnim Abu Bakar and Mohd Kafli Che Ali.
The first charge alleges he raped a 15-year-old girl in a Wangsa Maju condominium on January 22.
This charge under Section 375(g) of the Penal Code carries a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping.
The second charge involves committing physical sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl at the same location and time.
It was framed under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which also carries a 20-year maximum sentence.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Shakira Aliana Alias proposed bail of RM15,000 for each charge with several conditions.
These included surrendering his passport and reporting monthly to a police station.
Defence counsel Mohamad Akmal Mohd Taufik requested lower bail, citing his client’s role as a family breadwinner.
“He earns RM2,000 monthly as a shoe store salesperson and supports his parents and siblings,” said the lawyer.
Both judges set bail at RM10,000 for each charge with one surety, imposing the prosecution’s requested conditions.
The cases have been set for mention on March 4 and April 2.
