A private vet clinic owner in Petaling Jaya denies charges of neglecting a cat and dog to death, facing fines up to RM100,000 or jail.
PETALING JAYA: A private veterinary clinic owner pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to charges of abandoning the care of two animals, causing their deaths.
Dr Fadzilah A’ini A. Kadir, 68, was charged with unreasonably neglecting a cat and a dog at premises in Damansara Damai this month.
The charge falls under Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

If convicted, she faces a minimum fine of RM20,000 and a maximum of RM100,000, or imprisonment for up to three years, or both.
The Selangor State Veterinary Services Department prosecuting officer offered bail at RM10,000 with one surety.
An additional condition required the accused to surrender her passport to the court.
Dr Fadzilah, who was unrepresented, appealed for a reduced bail citing her status as a single mother.
Judge Noor Ruzilawati Mohd Nor allowed bail to be set at RM8,000 with one surety.
The court upheld the additional condition for the passport to be surrendered.
The case has been set for mention on Feb 4 for the appointment of lawyers and document submission.
The charges follow a viral video and photos on social media showing a dead dog and cat at a Damansara Damai clinic.
The Selangor Veterinary Services Department received a complaint on Dec 17.
An inspection found both animals dead in separate cages, with an estimated time of death between one to two weeks prior. – Bernama
