KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has issued compound notices to 22 individuals offering unlicensed photography services around the Petronas Twin Towers.
The enforcement operation targeted unauthorised commercial activities in the area from 9 pm to 11.15 pm last night.
A DBKL spokesperson confirmed the integrated KL Strike Force operation involved cooperation from multiple agencies including the Royal Malaysia Police and National Registration Department.
“DBKL has also seized the business equipment belonging to these individuals,” he said at the operation site.
“The owners may reclaim their equipment once the compound has been settled.”
All individuals inspected during the operation were Malaysian citizens.
Action was taken under the Licensing of Hawkers (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) By-Laws 2016, which allows for maximum compounds of RM2,000.
Regular monitoring and patrols will continue to be intensified, particularly during night hours in the area.
Bernama observed at the operation site that photography services using the Petronas Twin Towers backdrop were being offered at RM5 per photo for locals and RM10 for foreigners. – Bernama
