Former company manager among three remanded over false documents

Three suspects, including a former manager, remanded over false documents for claims worth RM51,000 in Terengganu.

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded three individuals, including a former manager of a frozen food company in Terengganu, over allegations of submitting documents containing false particulars involving claims worth about RM51,000.

According to a source, the suspects, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested at about 2pm yesterday when they turned up to provide statements at the Terengganu MACC office.

A male suspect was remanded for four days until July 30, while two female suspects were remanded for three days until July 29, following an order issued by Magistrate Yuhanis Mohd Roslan at the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court today upon the MACC’s application.

“Preliminary investigations had found that the three suspects are believed to have conspired to commit the offence in May and June 2023. The suspects are believed to have submitted claims containing false particulars involving the supply of food for wedding packages through three payment transactions transferred into the company’s bank account and two personal bank accounts belonging to the suspects,” the source said.

MACC Terengganu director Hazrul Shazreen Yazid confirmed the arrests when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
