Four students detained after Form 4 student was allegedly beaten unconscious in school hostel toilet in Sungai Petani, with one remanded for three days
SUNGAI PETANI: A Form Four student was found unconscious in his school hostel toilet after allegedly being beaten by fellow students.
Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the victim’s mother was informed by a school teacher at 9.05 am last Monday.
The teacher reported that her son had been discovered unconscious in the school hostel toilet.
“The victim’s mother said her son was sent to the hospital for treatment,” Hanyan stated in a press release.
“She also claimed that the incident happened in the middle of the night involving several students.”
Initial investigations revealed the victim allegedly bad-mouthed a friend of one of the students.
This prompted the student to gather three others to confront the victim.
Following the alleged assault, four male students aged between 16 and 17 were detained for investigation.
One 16-year-old student has been remanded for three days starting today.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt.
It is also being probed under Section 507B of the Penal Code for harassment through abusive words or acts. – Bernama
